Sept. 14, 2004 – September's Sunset Jazz concert is this Friday featuring Pan Jazz with Bill Bass and Friends. Bass is one of the premier pan artists in the Caribbean, having performed around the world.
The concert will be held in the temporary Sunset Jazz setting, the Fort Frederik Beach Park in Frederiksted, while renovations proceed at the series' home venue, Veterans Park.
The Frederiksted Economic Development Association will host the concert, which will highlight the "Jazz Side" of Bill as he performs with Marsvyn David on bass, Elvis Pedro on guitar, Roy Stiles on keyboards, and Steve Davis on drums.
Special guest vocalists for Friday's event include Eugene "Doc" Petersen and Rufus James.
Sunset Jazz concerts, which start at 5:30 p.m. and last for two hours, are free and open to the public, with families encouraged to attend. They're presented by the Development Association, which operates a cash bar to help defray concert expenses, while the group Hispanos Unidos sells food. And a suggestion for those not in the know: Tote your own folding chairs or a blanket for seating comfort.
