July 28, 2003 – It will be "show time" Friday evening for the young participants in Christiansted artist/art gallery owner Danica David's 3rd annual Creative Adventure summer art program.
The youngsters, who range in age from 6 to 13 years, will be exhibiting their creative output this summer and receiving recognition for their accomplishments from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Danica Art Gallery, 54 King Street.
This year, David covered composition, perspective, drawing, watercolor and collage in the six-week summer session that attracted 38 participants. "I truly had a great time with the children," she said in a release. "They were very attentive even when the classes were taught outdoors."
Such on-site working sessions were held at Government House, Fort Christiansvaern, Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Christiansted Market.
David was assisted by several student aides. Marcel Thomas was back from last summer to serve as senior counselor, and Sherisse Lake Gardiner, a camper in the first year's program, was a counselor this year. Pedro Andersen and Michael Braithwaite did community service as counselors in the program.
"I really enjoyed being a part of the camp, not only because I love art but also because I love working with children," Sherisse said.
