Aug. 12, 2002 – The costs of obtaining or renewing a U.S. passport are going up Monday, Aug. 19.
A U.S. State Department advisory grid sheet distributed in a release from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor shows a range of fees for new passports, renewals, execution, and routine and expedited service. The bottom-line costs, however, will be changed as follows:
– New passport, ages 16 and up: to $85 from $60.
– New passport, under age 16: to $70 from $40.
– Routine passport renewal: to $55 from $40.
– Expedited service surcharge: to $60 from $35 (added to applicable fee above).
Procedures and estimated delivery times are not affected. For further information on fees, visit the State Department Travel Web site. The initial figures shown with an asterisk there are those which will take effect on Aug. 19; current fees are listed at the bottom of the Web page.
