St. Croix Man Arrested in Connection With November Hit-and-Run

Police officers arrested a St. Croix man Saturday in connection with a hit-and-run incident that injured a pedestrian in November 2024, the Virgin Islands Police Department announced.

Ronel D. Burke, 48, was taken into custody at his residence Saturday at approximately 11:17 a.m. Officers advised Burke of his Miranda rights and transported him to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station, according to the police report.

Burke faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident, operating a motor vehicle in a negligent manner, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle on a public road. The charges stem from an incident reported on Nov. 22, 2024, in which a pedestrian was injured, the police report stated.

Police said Burke was processed and later released after posting $555 bail, which is 10 percent of the $5,500 total bail set in the arrest warrant. His release requires that he appear in court for an advice of rights hearing.
