Sen. Positive T.A. Nelson reminds the community of the passage of Act 8002, which commemorates the emancipation of the enslaved people in the Danish West Indies, now the U.S. Virgin Islands, and any other freedom struggles of oppressed people. The week of June 26 to July 3 as Virgin Islands Freedom Week. The week-long celebration ends with the 18th Annual Emancipation Day Fort to Fort Walk to Freedom. The fort to fort walk begins at Fort Christian, traveling west on Queen Mary Highway to end at Fort Frederik where there will be a prayer and a short ceremony. Over 500 people are expected.
