EDUCATOR GLADISE GABRIEL DIES

Gov. Charles W. Turnbull has extended condolences on the death of former educator Gladise Gabriel, 80, who died April 26 at her home in Havensight.
Gabriel "was a dedicated public servant of the Virgin Islands community for more than 50 years, beginning her public service career as a teacher in the public school system," Turnbull said. "Her brilliant career as a primary school educator and advocate for the young child led her to become the primary supervisor for the Department of Education's St. Thomas-St. John district."
Gabriel, an active member of Memorial Moravian Church, was honored in 1979 by the 12th Legislature for her devotion to education and the community.
