BYRD SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

Five graduates from St. Thomas public high schools recently received notification that they are recipients of the 2001 Robert C. Byrd Scholarship:
Sophia Greenaway, Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, daughter of Agnes Greenaway, will attend the University of Miami.
Jeune B. Hawley, Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, daughter of Cecilia and Irad Hawley, will attend the Clark Atlanta University.
DeShawn Hendrickson, Charlotte Amalie High School, son of Annette Hendrickson, will attend Berklee College of Music.
Chasda Clendinen, Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, daughter of Sonia A. Clendinen, will attend North Carolina State University.
Kareema B. Smith, Charlotte Amalie High School, daughter of Wycliffe M. Smith will attend the University of the Virgin Islands.
The Byrd Scholarship is administered by the Virgin Islands Department of Education. Under this program students receive awards of $1,500 per semester which can be renewed for a maximum of eight uiversity or college semesters upon submission of evidence showing maintenance of eligibility.
