June 10, 2003 The Enid M. Baa Public Library invites all St. Thomians ages 2 to 18 to climb aboard the Summer Reading Train, a summer program that could win participants a $20 gift certificate at Dockside Bookshop.
The program begins June 16 and runs through August 16, and interested readers or their parents must register at the library. After that it's as easy as keeping track of the books.
Ages 2-6: Log the number of hours read to or reading by coloring in the train. Six hours is required to receive a certificate.
Ages 7-10: 30-60 page books, 12 book minimum. Write the name of the book and a three-sentence synopsis and recommendation for your certificate.
Ages 11-14: 60-140 page books, 12 book minimum. Record the title, author, publisher and type of book, the main characters, a five-sentence synopsis and recommendation for your certificate.
Ages 14-18: Books more than 150 pages, 9 book minimum. Same requirement as above to obtain a certificate.
Summer camp program coordinators interested in arranging a book talk, or a library introduction can contact Diane Moody at 774-0630 or Judy Edmeade at 774-2299.
