WATER MAIN BREAK HAS WIDE EFFECT

Aug. 28, 2003 — Potable water service was interrupted today to many St. Croix customers, while the V.I. Water and Power Authority continues to make repairs on a broken 10-inch potable water main in the vicinity of the Juan F. Luis Hospital.
WAPA initially estimated having repairs completed by 5 p.m. today, but at 4:51 p.m. a statement was issued that estimates work will be completed by 10 p.m. today.
Affected are customers in the Sunny Isle, Diamond, Barren Spot, Ginger Thomas, Strawberry, and Sunny Acres areas.
Further, WAPA advises motorists traveling near the Louis Hospital that the northbound lane of the road will be closed. Drivers are asked to exercise caution while traveling in the work area and to use alternate travel routes where possible.
