DANIEL GAUTIER ADVANCES WITH U.S. COAST GUARD

Aug. 31, 2003 – U.S. Coast Guard Seaman Storekeeper Daniel Gautier has met the requirements for advancement to Supply Petty Officer Third Class (SK3).
Gautier is a 1996 graduate of Central High School who joined the U.S. Coast Guard in February 2003 after honorable service in the U.S. Army.
Gautier is now assigned at a Coast Guard small-boat station in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He works in an independent billet as the assistant to a temporary Supply Officer.
Lt. Victor Rivera, Executive Officer Station Ft. Lauderdale, wrote, "We've received his advancement certificate and he will be formally recognized on Wed. 3 Sep 03 in front of all hands."
Coast Guard Station Ft. Lauderdale is a multi-mission small-boat station located in Dania Beach, Fla. There are two 41-foot patrol boats, two 27-foot Boston Whalers, one 27-foot workboat, and one 25-foot Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat.
The men and women working at this assignment are responsible for four government vehicles, one tractor, and a travel lift (haul out facility for boats). The unit has several offices including a multi-purpose building, an operations center, engineering shop, deck seamanship shop, and other maintenance buildings and offices. SK3 Gautier is responsible for all the procurements of contracts, parts and services required to provide preventive maintenance to all the unit assets and to maintain the operational status of this unit.
The unit's primary missions are search-and-rescue, L/E, port security, and homeland security. In addition, this unit is responsible for the safe execution of major marine events, including Air/Sea Show, Fleet Week, and Ft. Lauderdale Winter Fest Boat Parade.
Gautier joined the Coast Guard after talking with several Virgin Islanders who were serving on active duty. CWO Alvin Dalmida stated, "I was doing a timely check-up on Seaman Gautier and he told me the good news about his promotion. I think it's a great transition he made in his career … A Storekeeper is a fast moving rate in the Coast Guard."
Gautier is married to Seaman Claricia Gautier of Coast Guard Integrated Support Command Miami FL. (See also St. Croix couple both serving in the Coast Guard.) They have a son, Lionel. Claricia Gautier's parents are Conrad Prevost and Ghislainne Lazarre of St. Croix. Daniel Gautier's parents are Anne Forbes-Samuel and Henry Samuel of St. Croix.
