Art Show About St. Croix's Maroon Coast Will Open
The Fort Frederik Museum will hold a reception for a new art show called "St. Croix's Maroon Coast: Artists' Impressions" from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Friday, June 30, at the museum in Frederiksted. The art show will commemorate the cultural, historical, economic, ecological, recreational, and spiritual values of the island's Maroon coast.
Over 20 artists and photographers will present artwork that focuses on the area's beautiful environment and the heroic spirit of escaped enslaved Africans called maroons who once lived amongst the hidden caves, cliffs and gullies.
The Six Pack Band will entertain guests at the opening. Call 773-5575 for more information.
