Senator Celestino A. White, Sr. has expressed concern for the 400 plus employees over the recent revelation of Innovative and its Principals filing for bankruptcy. Based on recent reports, Innovative Communication Co., LLC, along with the owner Jeffery Prosser has filed for Bankruptcy in the U. S. Bankruptcy Court in the Virgin Islands.
While Holland Redfield, II, VP of Corporate Affairs for Innovation Corporation has indicated that this action will in no way affect the employees' position with the company or the customer service, the situation according to Redfield remains fluid, stated Senator White.
ICC has been battling against an attempt by other financial interests to force the firm into involuntary bankruptcy for the past six months which has placed great stress on the hard working employees of Innovative. In view that the telephone company was once owned by the government of the Virgin Islands, I am calling on the Government Employee Retirement System and the Public Finance Authority to position themselves in the event that the bankruptcy results in a change of ownership or the possibility presents itself where the Government of the Virgin Islands can take control to protect the employees as well as to maintain the service as provided presently.
"Rest assured, I remain steadfast in my commitment to protect the hard working men and women of Innovative from further stress and possible lost of income," concluded Senator White.
