Brief: Frederiksted Oil Odor Undetermined by Hovensa Personnel

August 17, 2006 – After calls from the Frederiksted area that residents were noticing an oil-based odor in the air, the Department of Planning and Natural Resources contacted Hovensa to determine if there were any releases at the plant.
Hovensa field personnel were dispatched and were unable to determine a source of the odor, but staff said there had not been any releases at the plant.
Hovensa is continuing to investigate in and around the plant and will report back to DPNR on Friday, according to a press release from the department.
