UVI Little Theatre Holding Auditions for Fall Production
David Edgecombe of the UVI Little Theatre has announced that auditions for the Fall 2006 theatre production of Errol Hill's "Dance Bongo" are being held this week. Auditions began on Sept. 5. The remaining auditions sessions are slated for Thursday and Friday, Sept. 7 and 8. The auditions will begin daily at 7 p.m. in the UVI Little Theatre. For more information call 693-1340.

Recruiters from Major U.S. Graduate Schools to Visit on Sept. 8
Recruiters representing 12 of the nation's top research universities will visit UVI to meet with persons interested in pursuing graduate studies from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8. The session is scheduled on UVI's St. Thomas campus. It will follow a special, free workshop offered by the recruiters via videoconference to both campuses. The workshop — designed to acquaint students with the graduate school process — is slated for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Chase Auditorium (B-110) on St. Thomas, with a link to the Evans Center room 401 on St. Croix. The session will cover how to choose a graduate program, applying to graduate and summer research programs, and how to obtain scholarships and other financial assistance. For details, call 693-1134. National Student Exchange Info Sessions Planned on St. Thomas
UVI's Counseling and Placement Office will conduct four information sessions on the National Student Exchange program that allows UVI students to spend up to two semesters in one academic year at a different university or college in the United States or Canada. The program is designed to broaden a student's personal and educational experiences. The information sessions will be held on Sept. 19, Oct. 5 and 26, and Nov. 7. Each will be conducted at the Faculty Resource Center on UVI's St. Thomas campus. For more information, call 693-1134.

Three from UVI's Varsity Volleyball Squads Make All-Tournament Teams
Congratulations to UVI varsity volleyball players Caitlin Dowd, Brandon Varlack and Shimoi Van Holten. The three were named to the all tournament women's and men's teams in last weekend's UVI Labor Day Volleyball Tournament. The Lady Bucs finished the tournament with no wins and four losses, while the Buccaneers notched one win and three loses. The 2006 Men's Champion was the Michigan State Club team. Scheduling conflicts and NCAA Regulations prevented the completion of a round robin schedule and the determination of a clear champion for the women's division

Buccaneers and Lady Bucs to Open LAI Volleyball Schedule At Home
UVI's inaugural varsity volleyball season in Puerto Rico's Intercollegiate Athletic League (LAI) opens with home matches on Sept. 15 and 16. The Lady Bucs and Buccaneers take on women's and men's squads from Polytechnica, with the first game at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15. The men's Polytechnica team won the ODI league last year. On Saturday, Sept. 16, the Lady Bucs host Metropolitan University (UMET), the defending ODI league champions in a match beginning at 7 p.m. Both UMET and Polytechnica have moved with UVI to the 20-team LAI league. Next weekend's home games will be played in the Sports and Fitness Center.

VI-RC&D Council Sets Quarterly St. Thomas-St. John Meeting for Sept. 6
The V.I. Resource Conservation & Development Council, Inc. (VI-RC&D) will hold its quarterly St. Thomas-St. John Committee meeting from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the MacLean Marine Science Center Conference Room on UVI's St. Thomas campus. Members and interested guests are invited. UVI's Cooperative Extension Service works in partnership with the VI-RC&D. SBDC Schedules St. Croix Seminar on Marketing Investment for Sept. 7
The UVI Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in collaboration with BizVI will conduct a seminar entitled "Demonstrating Real Returns on Your Marketing Investment" from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7. The seminar will be offered at the Small Business Development Center in Sunshine Mall. Call 692-5270 to register.
