School-Age Voters Choose deJongh in Governor's Race

Nov. 6, 2006 — The results are in — from the people too young to vote in the official election.
Many of the elementary and secondary schools in the territory held mock elections last week, favoring the John deJongh-Gregory Francis team across the board for governor and lieutenant governor. The margin ranged from a tight five percent at Ulla F. Muller Elementary School, where deJongh-Francis eased past the team of Sen. Adlah "Foncie" Donastorg and Cora Christian 46.6 percent to 41.4 percent, to a 72-percent landslide at St. Joseph High School. There the deJongh ticket raced past its closest competitors, the team of Kenneth Mapp and former Sen. Almando "Rocky" Liburd, 82.4 percent to 10.2 percent.
