Brief: Water Service Work Completed Ahead of Schedule

Dec. 6, 2006 — Water service interrupted by work on a desalination plant has been restored, according to the V.I. Water and Power Authority (WAPA).
"The IDE No. 3 water desalination plant recently taken out of service for annual maintenance has returned to full operation," said a WAPA news release. "Service was restored several days ahead of the anticipated 10-day work schedule, thanks to the dedicated work of the Richmond Power Plant personnel. The water plant was originally scheduled to be out of service until Dec. 8, 2006."
Water may still be limited to some WAPA customers, "especially those in the higher elevations," until storage levels are restored, the news release said. "Consumers are urged to continue conserving water and to use cisterns or wells, if available."
"WAPA appreciates the patience of its St. Croix water customers, and apologizes for any inconvenience they may have experienced by this service-enhancement effort," the news release said.
