Rare Earth Studio Offers Pearl and Bead Design Workshops

Aug. 17, 2007 – The Rare Earth Studio, a program of the Caribbean Islands Education Foundation Inc., is offering the first in a series of special focus classes with beginning, intermediate and advanced Pearl and Bead Design Workshops. The classes will provide fundamentals as well as the latest knowledge of the art of pearl and bead design in neckpiece, bracelet and earpiece forms.
Timisa Cree is instructor for the beginning Pearl and Bead Design Workshop. Timisa creates original glass beads and incorporates them into unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry. Her original glass bead designs are produced with the lamp-working procedure, a highly technical process. Timisa will be offering for purchase her original beads for those attending the workshop.
Julia Malaghan will present the intermediate and advanced Pearl and Bead Design Workshop for designers. She is a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America and has vast knowledge of the precious gemstone business from wholesale to retail, with her own design creations being highly sought after in the international market. For the past several years, Julia has been designing pearls and precious gemstone bead jewelery using 22K yellow gold.
The cost for the Pearl and Design Classes are $105 for tuition plus $145 for the kit (a canvas tote bag containing necessary tools, including cultured pearls and natural gemstone beads to complete one 16" strand with clasp; additional pearls and natural gemstone beads will be available for purchase).
A deposit can be made of half the tuition, $52.50, plus the cost of the kit, $145, for a total of $197.50, payable by Sept. 1. The balance is due before the first class. Class size limited to the first ten registered adults 18 and over. Registration ends on Sept. 1.
The studio is located at 32A Dronningen's Gade, Suite 7 (gated entry is on Raadet's Gade, upstairs). For information or to register, contact Ivanne Farr at 777-7774, or e-mail ciacgia@msn.com
