Rotary Club Presents the Savan Boys Club with $5,000

May 23, 2008 – The Rotary Club of St. Thomas awarded the Savan Boys Club with a $5,000 gift to go toward the group's ongoing after-school enhancement programs for young boys in the community.
Representatives Sonia Archer and Patrick Hodge from the Savan Boys Club on St. Thomas accepted the donation at the Rotary's Thursday meeting held at A Room With A View.
"Our community is fortunate to have organizations such as the Savan Boys Club to mentor and provide alternative programs for our young people," said Janette Millin Young, president of the Rotary Club. "The members of the Savan Boys Club are known to us as the boys even joined with our club members at our annual St. Johnathon (a walk-a-thon) fund raiser that would ultimately benefit them. They have shown that they do not want a hand out, but a hand up. That is really important."
Last week, the club presented John Foster, president of the Nana Baby Home Foundation, with a check for $3,684 to go toward food and other essential items for the young residents.
"Nana Baby Home recently made an appeal to our club for financial assistance as the home has an increased amount of infant residents," Young said. "We take great pride in being able to contribute resources to make the lives of children in our community a little better everyday."
