'Serious Red Flags' Delay Budget Hearing for Schneider Hospital

July 15, 2008 — A budget hearing for Roy Lester Schneider Hospital scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Frederiksted was taken off the calendar due to "red flags" raised in a recent audit by the Office of the Inspector General.
"Apparently it was indicated to us that serious red flags were discovered through an independent audit of Schneider Hospital and we were advised to wait," said Sen. Terrence "Positive" Nelson, chairman of the Finance Committee, at the conclusion of a hearing Tuesday on Juan F. Luis Hospital's budget. "I do not know the specific details yet, other than there is a little more than just a red flag involved."
