Aug. 4, 2008 – The Virgin Islands Department of Education's Offices of the Commissioner and District Insular Superintendents welcome students, parents and staff to the new school year, 2008-2009, with the official opening of all territorial public schools on Monday, Aug. 25.
School-based personnel will report on the following dates:
Secretarial and Clerical Personnel: Aug. 11
Kitchen Managers: Aug. 18
Principals, Assistant Principals, Coordinators, Supervisors and Bus Drivers: Aug. 18
Kitchen Workers: Aug. 19
New Teachers : Aug. 20
Guidance Counselors and Paraprofessionals: Aug. 21
Returning Teachers, Registrars, Attendance Counselors, Diagnosticians, Psychologists and School Nurses: Aug. 22
"As the opening date nears regular announcements advising parents, guardians and other stakeholders of student reporting schedules, policies and initiatives for the upcoming school year will be made," said Education Public Relations Director Juel Anderson.
