Bohlke, Harper Win Wall 2 Wall Triathlon

Sept. 23, 2008 – Billy Bohlke and Theresa Harper took different paths to victory at Sunday's Toyota Wall 2 Wall Triathlon. On a day that threatened rain, Harper stormed to the front early and Bohlke blew past his rivals only in the closing stages of the .5-mile swim, 15-mile bike and 3-mile run race.
Bohlke came out of the water at Cane Bay well back in eighth place, and made up only four places on the hilly, twisty North Shore bike course. However, he used his superior running skills to make up a 3.5-minute deficit over second place Jason Snow and won by almost two minutes in a total time of 1:21:30. Snow was second in 1:23:19, and Troy Holloway took third in 1:25:34.
Harper, on the other hand, was the second female out of the water, and took the lead over newcomer Susie Shipman early on the bike, cruising to an easy win in 1:33:05. Shipman stayed in second at 1:36:02. Dulcie Crowther was third in 1:40:47.
The team of Bryson Mays, Mark Kennedy and Theo Mongeau took top honors in the relay division.
The next race on the schedule is the Stamina Sports Duathlon on Sunday, Oct. 5. This race will feature a 1.5-mile run, a 14-mile bike and finish with another 1.5-mile run.
