Dear Source:
After reading the Mr. Freeman's commentary, l would ask the question, what does HOVENSA have to do with this fiasco?
What type of deals has the government struck with HESS/HOVENSA for tax benefits? I believe another deal (renegotiation) has taken place since the first deal. lt is now obvious that we are all feeling the pinch of the bad deal(s) that were made on our behalf.
lt is now clearly obvious that the government officials don't mind accepting lopsided deals because they are now in a precarious position as it pertains to fiscal management. We should consider deals that HOVENSA may have been willing to make with the government and they did not come to pass.
I agree we (the consumer, the government, and WAPA) need to handle our affairs better, but waiving our bills at the HOVENSA gates is not the answer.
