V.I. RC&D Seeks Volunteers to Build Bridge to Somewhere

Oct. 9, 2008 – The Virgin Islands Resource Conservation and Development Council Inc. (V.I. RC&D) members and volunteers, TNC's Richard Gideon, Hovensa, A9 Trucking and St. Croix Hiking Association members have helped to build the first bridge across the gut for the Estate Adventure Nature Trail Expansion, which was finished on Aug. 24.
V.I. RC&D is now seeking volunteers to help build a second wooden bridge, cut bush and clear trail to complete the new Estate Adventure Nature Trail loop expansion. They are asked to meet at 8 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Trail Kiosk across Queen Mary Highway from the V.I. Ag Fair Grounds in Estate Lower Love.
All students, teachers, hikers, birders, ecologists, researchers and St. Croix nature lovers who want to help expand and improve the nature trail are encouraged to participate. Please bring gloves (and clippers, loppers or a screw driver if you have one) and wear clothing suitable for working in the bush. Water, snacks and tools will be provided.
For information, contact Olasee Davis at 692-4053 / odavis@uvi.edu or the V.I. RC&D office at 692-9632 ext. 5 / vircd@usvircd.org.
