As If I Were There

Dear Source:
I live in Westerville, Ohio, USA. My daughter-in-law, Joy Marschall, who professes the Baha'i faith and had Baha'i friends in the islands and who only recently moved from St. John to California, had told me of this tragic event yesterday when we spoke on the phone.
I am grateful to the writer of this story and to the newspaper that published it for the beautiful way in which it was told, making me feel almost as if I had been present in the courtroom. What a wonderful young man Gabe Lerner was and then to be senselessly killed by someone who didn't even have a reason to dislike him. And how wonderful his parents must be to realize that their son would not want them to seek to avenge his death. Though I did not know Mr. Lerner, I grieve with his family and thank God for his beautiful life.
