Dear Source:
We have the highest electric rates in the country and the worst service. Constant outages this year, coupled with high cost, have placed a heavy burden on the public. WAPA should be made to upgrade their equipment and seek new alternative sources of fuel. And this should not be done at the public's expense. Businesses and homeowners are forced to buy generators just to maintain a quality of life that should be provided to us by our utility company. It is even worse on St. John were we are forced to get our current from St. Thomas and are always the last to get it. St Johnians should demand their own power plant, one that is built to supply the needs of our growing population, and one that is situated on St. John, not from an umbilical cord from St. Thomas.
