V.I. Tennis Association Tryouts Scheduled for Inaugural Caribbean Games

Dec. 8, 2008 – Tryouts will be held at the Tennis Club of St. Croix from Dec. 26-30 for those who want to compete in the tennis competition in the 2009 Inaugural Caribbean Games in Trinidad and Tobago, July 13-18, and the 2009 Zone IV Davis Cup Tie, which will take place, in El Salvador, during the week beginning April 20. Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, U.S. Virgin Islands, Aruba and Bermuda are currently scheduled to compete in the event. It will be played in a round robin format from Wednesday through Sunday, with the two highest placed nations being promoted to Americas Zone Group III in 2010.
Players who wish to try out need to send their recent playing history to William McComb at Billvi10@hotmail.com or mail it to P.O. Box 308146, St. Thomas, V.I. 00802. The playing record and past experience in international tennis events will be used in the evaluation of the qualifications of the participants.
The deadline for requesting to participate in the tryout is Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008.
