Dear Source:
Do you ride the city bus or rely on local paratransit services to get to the places you need and want to go? Are your public transit experiences excellent, or routine, or something less? Are you too exhausted after waiting under broiling sun or frigid temperatures to even think about the impression you'll be making when you arrive at your next job interview? Or, are you grateful for a cheerful driver's help when it's time to board or disembark from the bus? Is riding the subway an enjoyable experience, or do you spend the entire journey worrying about whether the elevator will be in service when you arrive at your destination?
Public and paratransit systems allow us to live independently, to work and play and access the services we rely upon to participate in life's opportunities. All of our options for transit and transportation need to work for us. Here's an opportunity to inform those whose job it is to assure good public and paratransit performance about your experiences and the issues that are important to you. Don't delay. Surveys are due by March 31!
Meeting the Challenge, Inc. received a grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and is conducting a survey designed to collect information from people with disabilities regarding their experiences with public transportation. All people with disabilities are invited to participate.
Information gathered will be used to determine what barriers still exist in public transportation for people with disabilities and will be used to create Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) technical assistance materials directed toward alleviating those barriers. The survey is available online at: w" target="_blank" href="http://mtcinc.transit.sgizmo.com">http://mtcinc.transit.sgizmo.com.
You can expect it to take between 5 and 15 minutes to complete the online survey. If you do not have Internet access or experience any problems completing the survey, call Meeting the Challenge at: 800-864-4264. Select menu choice #2), Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time. Depending on your preference, you may complete the survey by telephone or request a paper copy.
Responses to the survey will be collected through March 31, 2009.
