Stealers, Heat Only Unbeatens in Bob Owens Playoffs

Stealers ace Sam Ramos helped his own cause with a double down the left-field line.Monday night in the Bob Owens Slow-pitch Softball League featured the four remaining undefeated teams in this year’s playoffs, and when the dust cleared only the Seaborne Stealers and Wyatt Heat remained unblemished.
The Stealers outslugged the National Guard Hummers 28-20, while the Heat burned Speak the Word Ministries 16-5.

Stealers 28, Hummers 20
The Stealers got a scare from the Hummers in game one on Monday after watching them crawl back from a 16-3 deficit to three runs of the lead at 16-13. The Stealers would however outscore the Hummers 12-7 down the stretch to pull out the 28-20 victory. It was the Stealers with 28 runs on 19 hits and three errors, while the Hummers finished with 20 runs on 18 hits and two errors. The winning pitcher was Sam Ramos, while Jerry Vialet got the loss for the Hummers.
Top batters for the winners were Sheldon Turnbull (4 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs) and Owen Pimentel (4 for 5 with two home runs and three RBIs). For the Hummers, Leon Cruz was 4 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Mervin Mills was 3 for 4 with two home runs and four RBIs.

Wyatt Heat 15, Speak the Word 5
In game two, Speak the Word Ministries who surprised the regular season champs Softball Inc last week with an upset victory, had no such luck on Monday against the red-hot Wyatt Heat. In fact, this one was over early via the 10-run mercy rule, with the Heat winning 16-5. The Heat finished with 16 runs on 17 hits and three errors, while Speak the Word had five runs on nine hits and four errors.
Dexter DeSouza got the win on the hill for the Heat, and Sylvester McIntosh got the loss. Top batters for the Heat were (Eric Perez 3 for 3 with two home runs and three RBIs) and Carlos Nieves (3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs). For Speak the Word, Koal Snyder was 3 for 3 with one RBI.
