Rita Laverne Baumann died on Thursday, April 29. She was 51 years old.
She is survived by her son, Kai Simmonds; father, Clyde Beumann; sisters: Yakumi Mabuyi and Berecia Baumann; brothers: Elroi, Anselmo and Windelle Baumann; niece, Zaria Maya Bell; nephews: Kahlil Mabuyi, Salim Suarez and Siegel Farrell; aunts: Gloria Watermann and Petra Huggins; and uncles: Oscar and Berthill McGregor. She is also survived by special friend, Bertram McIntosh; classmates: Joan Paulus, Collette Woodson and Lynelle Emanuel; cousins and other relatives: Lindsay Finch, Linda Phillips, Lawrence Phillips and May Cornwall; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, at her home, 53 Prince Street in Frederiksted.
