The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority is in the process of removing or relocating a few smaller bin sites in residential areas on St. Thomas. Effective on Monday, Sept. 27, the authority will be removing and/or relocating the following six-yard bins:
.Hospital Ground
· Two six-yard bins located in the “Old Hospital” area in Hospital Ground are being removed to accommodate the upgrades to the nearby facility. One bin will be relocated next to the existing site by Bergs Home and the other will be placed by the Department of Human Services’ Parking Lot.
· The existing bin by the former Lincoln School at the foot of Mafolie Hill Road will also be removed. This bin was intended for the use by the school that was closed at this site.
Nadir Circle
· Two six-yard bins will be removed from this area. Most residents in this area receive house-to-house collection services three times per week. Those residents who reside on the hillside are now being asked to utilize the roadside bins along Brookman Road or Nadir Road or by the Department of Agriculture’s abattoir.
VIWMA apologizes for any inconvenience that this may cause as it strives toward providing the most efficient solid waste collection service to residents.
