Shooting Victim Claims Being Kidnapped

Police on St. Croix are investigating a suspected kidnapping. A 33-year-old male told police on Sunday that he had been kidnapped, injured by gunfire, and taken to the Salt River area.

According to police, officers were alerted to the incident at 12:45 p.m., and were dispatched to the Salt River area. The victim told police he had been kidnapped Saturday night and taken to Salt River where, during the process, he was shot; he appeared to have blood on his clothes, but declined to give police any additional information.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center where he was treated for a gunshot graze to his chest and jaw.
