Three Men Injured by Gunshots

Three men were injured by gunshots early Monday while waiting for a ride on the side of Weymouth Rhymer Highway after their vehicle broke down, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Police were notified of the incident at about 4 a.m. According to the report, the victims were taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center in a private vehicle.

The injured men told police they were near their disabled vehicle when another vehicle approached the area. According to the police report, as the vehicle passed the Splash and Dash car wash, unknown occupants inside the vehicle began shooting at the victims.

One victim was struck in his right shoulder, another in his right foot and the third was injured in his left thigh. According to medical personnel the victims were treated and released from the hospital the same day.

Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are investigating the case and urged people with information to contact detectives at 1-340-714-9834 or 715-5522, or call the 911 emergency center or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers USVI at 1800-222-8477. Information can also be sent by anonymous text. The message should include the information and “USVI” and sent to Crime Stoppers at CRIMES, or 274637.
