Jesus Browne, 27, was shot multiple times in Estate Monbijou and died Tuesday night at the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital, the V.I. Police Department reported.
It was the ninth homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the 21st in the territory.
According to the preliminary investigation, officers were dispatched to a call of shots fired and a man down just before 10:30 p.m. on July 1. Arriving at the scene, they found the unresponsive body of the victim on the ground between two parked vehicles.
Detectives said Jesus Browne had been incarcerated and was recently released after being sentenced in connection to a murder that occurred in 2010.
