VIPD officers were dispatched to Cruz Bay at 9:21 p.m. on a report of a stabbing incident. Witnesses told police the perpetrator was a black male, wearing black clothing and carrying a machete.
Officers said they discovered Rupert Walters, the victim, bleeding from multiple stab wounds. Minutes later, after searching the surrounding area, officers said they encountered Jolly, who matched the description of the suspect and was covered in blood.
Jolly was detained and placed under arrest after a witness positively identified him as the individual who assaulted Walters.
Bail for Jolly was set at $110,000 and he was turned over to the Bureau of Corrections.
