Man Drowns at Honeymoon Beach

A 71-year-old man who was visiting St. John’s Honeymoon Beach on a cruise ship excursion drowned Friday, according to Greg Podany, acting chief ranger at the V.I. National Park.

The police blotter lists calls for assistance at Honeymoon Beach at 10:53 a.m. and 12:40 p.m.

Honeymoon Beach, which sits within the V.I. National Park, has been the site of several deaths in recent years. The latest was Jan. 5, when another cruise ship passenger was found unresponsive in the water.

The beach is a popular destination for cruise ship tours.
