Three on STT Injured by Gunshots Early Monday

Three men were treated Monday morning at Schneider Regional Medical Center for injuries received when they were shot while driving near Emerald Hill in the Smith Bay area.

According to the V.I. Police Department, at 1:06 a.m. Monday the 911 center received several calls about shots being fired in the Emerald Hill area. The callers told police that three victims were being transported to SRMC by private vehicle. Officers were dispatched to the hospital.

Emergency room attendants told the officers that all three victims had received gunshot wounds to their bodies. The victims’s names were not released by police, in accordance with department policy.

One of the victim told police they had been driving home and, as they reached the area of Emerald Hill, they heard multiple gunshots being fired at them. The individual said that after being struck he was able to get the vehicle to his residence where he and the other victims received assistance from family members and were driven to the hospital.

He told police he has no idea who shot at them and where the shots were coming from.

All the three victims were treated at the SRMC and were in stable condition as of Monday afternoon.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800 222-8477 (TIPS).
