On Monday, a St. Croix man was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a minor, police say.
Isaac Belardo, 20, was arrested after a citizen reported the crime on Saturday at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station. VIPD initiated an investigation, and Belardo admitted having sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old female.
Belardo has been charged with rape and unlawful sexual contact. No bail was set, and Belardo was remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing set for Aug. 24 at the Superior Court.
