Man Residing on St. Thomas Wanted for Assault Now in Custody

Aug. 29, 3.50 p.m.

On Sunday, Louie P. Vaccaro turned himself in to the police. He was arrested and charged with assault and disturbance of the peace, police say.

According to the victim, on June 11, he observed Vacarro removing a battery from a vehicle that belonged to his other tenant. The victim approached Vacarro and asked him if he had permission to remove the battery. Vacarro responded, “No.” The victim later told the other tenant about the incident, and when Vacarro found out that he had been exposed, he assaulted the victim with several conch shells causing lacerations and contusions to the victim’s lower extremities.

Bail was set at $25,000. Vacarro was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections, pending his advice of rights hearing.
