Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Criminal Justice Programs

The Virgin Islands Law Enforcement Planning Commission (LEPC) — with funding through the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance and Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) 2021 — is now accepting proposals and welcomes applications from private, non-profit organizations, faith-based organizations, government agencies, law enforcement programs, youth programs, rehabilitation and drug treatment programs and behavioral programs to assist in implementing effective crime prevention, control, reduction, enforcement of criminal law and criminal justice improvement projects.

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funds. Funds are used to address law enforcement efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence; to address drug-related and juvenile delinquency issues, law enforcement programs, drug treatment and enforcement programs, prevention and educational programs, prosecution and court programs, corrections and community corrections programs, planning, evaluation and technology improvement programs, crime victim and witness programs and mental health programs and related law enforcement and corrections programs, including behavioral programs and crisis intervention programs.

Any non-profit organizations applying must include in their application package a valid Unique Entity ID (UEI) number, register on www.Sam.gov  Certificate of Incorporation, IRS Determination Letter regarding 501©3 status, Articles of Incorporation, and a current Certificate of Good Standing from the Lt. Governor’s Office.

Failure to submit all documents at the scheduled deadline will result in an application’s disqualification for funding. All interested applicants may contact Ana Maria Creque via email ana.creque@lepc.vi.gov or at 774-6400 to request an online application or can visit the Law Enforcement Planning Commission (LEPC) website at https://lepc.vi.gov. Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) applications must be received by 3 p.m., Wednesday May 10.

Note that applications must be submitted with all required signatures, or the application will be considered incomplete. Applicants are welcome to drop off one original copy to the Law Enforcement Planning Commission office located at 8000 Nisky Center, 2nd floor, Suite No. 720, St. Thomas, VI 00802-5858.
