UVI to Close in Observance of Liberty Day The University of the Virgin Islands will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 1, in commemoration of the Virgin Islands Liberty Day holiday.

Administrative offices and classes will re-open at their regular schedule on Thursday, Nov. 2.

UVI Basketball Tips Off 2023-24 Season with Buccaneer Madness on November 3 The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) basketball teams will host Buccaneer Madness on Nov. 3, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Elridge Wilburn Blake Sports and Fitness Center.

Doors open at 7 p.m.

Both men’s and women’s basketball teams will be introduced and participate in separate 3-point shooting contests. Each team will compete in an intrasquad scrimmage, giving fans the first live look at the 2023-2024 rosters. The fan favorite, the slam dunk contest, will conclude the night with select participants from the Buccaneer men’s basketball team.

Buccaneer Madness is free and open to the public.

Live performances and other entertainment will be provided. Prizes and giveaways will be on hand for spectators in attendance.

UVICELL Invites High Schoolers to Join the Aviation Career Program The University of the Virgin Islands Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning (UVICELL) through the Coral Wings Aviation has launched its aviation program.  Students who are interested in participating may apply today.

Registration is open and ongoing.

Alert! The 2024-2025 “Simplified” FAFSA will be released in December 2023 On behalf of the U.S. Department of Education Central Processing System (CPS), the Financial Aid Team wants to advise you that the New Simplified Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be released in December 2023 for the 2024-2025 aid year, only.  Thereafter, the FAFSA release date will revert back to its usual October schedule.

The “Simplified” application will be streamlined beginning with a reduction in the number of questions. The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) will be replaced with a new Student Aid Index (SAI) to expand the Pell Program to more students.  Once the USDOE determines the 2024-25 aid year FAFSA release date in December, you will receive an invitation to participate in our town hall meetings.
