Free Homebuyer Credit Workshop Aimed at Apartment Residents on STT, STJ

The offices of Senator-at-Large Angel Bolques Jr. and Sen. Marvin Blyden announce a Free Homebuyer Credit Workshop aimed at empowering residents of the U.S. Virgin Islands with the knowledge and tools necessary for homeownership.

This workshop is specially designed for the residents of the Lovenlund Apartments on St. Thomas, and Bellevue Village and Calabash Boom Apartments on St. John, ensuring that when homeownership opportunities arise with the pending acquisition of those properties by Jackson Development, they are fully prepared to take the next step, according to a press release announcing the workshops.

The St. Thomas session will be held on Thursday, March 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Earle B. Ottley Legislative Hall.

The St. John session will be held on Friday, March 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cleone H. Creque Legislative Conference Room.

The workshops will cover essential topics such as understanding credit scores, managing personal finances, navigating the mortgage application process, and exploring various homeowner assistance programs, according to the release.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to interact directly with financial institutions on-site, including Banco Popular, Oriental Bank, Merchants Bank, First Bank, and other financial experts, for personalized advice and support, it said.

Bolques and Blyden emphasized the importance of this event, stating, “Homeownership is a crucial step towards financial stability and community building. Through this workshop, we aim to demystify the buying process and provide our constituents with the confidence to pursue their dreams of owning a home.”

This event is free and open to the public. However, space is limited, and interested participants are encouraged to come early to secure their spots. For registration and more information, contact Bolques at 340-693-3571 on St. Thomas and 340-776-6285 on St. John, or via email at senatorbolques@legvi.org, or Blyden at 340-774-0880, ext. 3567, or mblyden@legvi.org.
