Just in time for the Easter camping season on St. Croix, the official ribbon cutting for the newly remodeled Cramers Park Pavilion located on the east end of the island occurred on Thursday.

Other than serving as a space for hosting beach parties, over the years the pavilion is known for also assisting in serving as a space for class reunions, concerts, government battle of the agencies, and other social events.

“Cramers Park is now officially, ADA approved”, said mistress of ceremonies, Naydyeyah ACoy Thomas.  ADA also known as “The Americans with Disabilities Act,” gave their nod of approval for visitors of the beach with mobility disabilities who can now join in on the fun.

Most of the speakers included Gov. Albert Bryan Jr., Adrienne L. Williams-Octalien from the Office of Disaster Recovery, and Sen. President Novelle E. Francis Jr., all of whom spoke of memories of Cramers Park as a highlight of their childhood.

Francis recalled coming to the park for parties and other events and the excitement it would bring. Williams-Octalien said that it was something special when you had to drive from Frederiksted to the east end of the island to Cramers Park. And Bryan reflected when the beach was so packed you could barely find a spot.

When visitors visit Cramers Park, they can expect to see newly renovated pavilions, a grill area, renovated bathrooms and showers, lifeguard stations with lifeguards, more seating in the pavilions, and other renovations.

Calvin White, commissioner of the Sports, Parks, and Recreation Department and who is originally from St. Thomas, said that he got a taste for St. Croix during the camping season.

“It’s not just a stretch of sand and sea. It is a canvas of celebration, a sanctuary of serenity, a stage for endless adventure,” said White.

“These pavilions symbolize more than just shelter. They represent the commitment to enhancing our beach experience, providing comfort and fostering a deeper connection with nature,” he said.

The contractor assigned to the renovations was DVD Construction Inc.
