VI SBDC Equips USVI Business Community With 2024 Comprehensive Disaster Preparedness Plans

Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center (VI SBDC)

Upon entering the second month of the Atlantic hurricane season, the Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center (VI-SBDC) is intensifying its efforts to remind business owners of the pressing need to prepare for potential disasters. With a dedicated initiative to help small businesses create comprehensive disaster plans, the VI Small Business Center emphasizes the urgency of this task, as these plans are crucial for businesses to mitigate risks and safeguard operations.

Hurricanes, along with other challenges, such as internet and power outages, can pose significant obstacles, often disrupting operations and affecting business success. To address these concerns, the VI-SBDC is proactively offering assistance to small businesses throughout the USVI to develop and refine their disaster preparedness strategies at no cost. Advisors will soon host an overview training event on this detailed process and provide complimentary one-on-one advice to businesses.

“Small businesses drive the USVI economy, so we understand the importance of being prepared for the unexpected, especially after the twin storms (Ira and Maria) and the pandemic,” said John Morosco, VI SBDC state director. “Our goal is to leverage the tools and resources to equip businesses to navigate through disasters effectively, minimizing disruption and ensuring their long-term resilience.”

The VI SBDC is unwavering in its commitment to supporting the growth and resilience of small businesses through expert guidance, resources, and advocacy. With a steadfast commitment to fostering economic stability, the VI SBDC empowers entrepreneurs to thrive in challenging environments.
