Man Arrested for Theft and Fraud After Selling Vehicle Without Permission on St. Thomas

A St. Thomas man was arrested in connection with a fraud investigation after allegedly selling a vehicle without the owner’s permission, the Virgin Islands Police Department reported.

Dino Marks was charged with grand larceny, forgery, and obtaining money or property by false pretense following an investigation by the Economic Crimes Unit, according to a VIPD police report.

Police said the case began on or about May 20, 2025, when victims reported the incident. Investigators determined the victims contacted Marks through a post advertising the purchase and resale of vehicles.

According to the VIPD, Marks inspected the vehicle and told the owners it was unrepairable and could not be sold. He then offered to dispose of the vehicle and requested the title and registration, stating they were needed for disposal.

Police said Marks later repaired the vehicle and sold it for $5,500 without the victims’ knowledge or permission.

Bail was set at $10,000, which Marks posted. His advice of rights hearing was scheduled for Friday.
