Dear Source:
I don't understand why the verdict was not first degree murder. The facts indicate that these violent, merciless acts were clearly pre-mediated, particularly against Mr. Geiger. The killer even returned to the Geiger home, not caring whether a minor child (whom he had previously beaten unconscious) was dead or alive, then set the home on fire!
The territory currently has at least one person incarcerated for an absolute ten- year prison sentence for having sex with an allegedly willing, under age minor. Certainly, I am not condoning the practice! However, a five-year sentence for the Geiger murder, and ten years for engaging in sex with an allegedly willing minor? I don't get it.
I clearly need to be educated about how this verdict was reached. Perhaps some one can clarify this for me.
