Dear Source:
the scramble is on on St. croix, people lining up to sell good and service to the cruise boat passengers, yet there are some questions that need to be addressed, the lack of ATM's and the lack of banking, the lingering question of cleaning up f sted's rather notorious west side, if shutting down the fish market, was met with such hostility just wait till you hear the cries from those who are asked to put on clothes and not to approach people to wash there cars, seems like this should be addressed before the ships get here, there is also a need to ban the little Switzerland people from St. Thomas we don't need barkers, we don't need tons of Indonesian crafts, if we meet them with real St. croix culture and real St. croix goods, they will come back, St. croix is the last caribian in the virgin islands, our culture is intact, St. croix is not the fringe criminal element that haunts f stead, it is hard working people, friendly and careing, the may i help attitude our approach should be consistent with those values, we don't have to sell tax free goods when we can sell our culture and our islands wonderful environment. we first need to negotiate the price that the cruiseboats will expect us to pay them for the business they bring us, they should be approached with this single idea: there are plenty of cruise boats but only one St. croix we have spent years with out your boats and now we welcome you back but you must realize we need to share in the profits we will need it to clean the beaches and roads after you go home we will need it to keep our police and emergency services able to cope with the demands you will bring, your customers need to know that tipping isn't a crime here, that our people are struggling with high cost and thanks to you an increased demand. we welcome you to our island we think it will be a good partnership please help us to keep our unique way of life, please help us keep our pride in our island
