WAPA Employees’ Union Gives Scholarships to Two V.I. Students

The Professional and Technical Employees’ Union Inc. of the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority in commemoration of its 10th anniversary has announced the graduating seniors, Anthonio M. Forbes of the St. Croix Educational High School and Dana G. Hendrickson of the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School are the recipients of its first scholarship awards.

The recipients will each receive a $1,000 scholarship toward their educational expenses at the University of the Virgin Islands.
Forbes plans to pursue a natural science degree in biology while Hendrickson will major in elementary education.
“In recognition of its tenth anniversary, the Professional and Technical Employees’ Union wants to demonstrate the commitment of its membership to the community which they serve,” said union president Orville James. “Locally-controlled unions have a unique opportunity to invest their resources in community-building activities.”
The scholarship award is just one of several initiatives that the union is undertaking this year in observance of its anniversary.
