Alert: Abandoned Vehicles to Be Removed at Schneider Hospital

June 13, 2006 — Abandoned vehicles left on the grounds of Roy L. Schneider Hospital will be removed if they are not claimed by noon Thursday, June 15.
In a joint effort between the Schneider Regional Medical Center and the Governor's Abandoned Vehicle and Beautification Task Force, several abandoned vehicles have been identified on Schneider Hospital grounds.
An abandoned vehicle is one that does not have a current vehicle registration and is left on public or private property for more than 48 hours without the consent of the property owner.
“We are joining with the governor's task force to remove these abandoned vehicles, some of which have been left here for months or years," said Rodney E. Miller Sr., president and chief executive officer for Schneider Regional.
Once a vehicle has been taken away by the task force, the owner of the vehicle must pay a reclamation fee of $250 at the V.I. Property and Procurement Department in Sub Base. After 15 days, the government will dispose of the vehicle and can impose a $1,000 fine on the owner.
Owners of abandoned vehicles at Schneider Hospital can call 776-8311, ext. 2301 or 2302.
