Seaborne Stealers Open Bob Owens Playoffs with Statement Win

May 13, 2008 — Regular-season champions the Seaborne Stealers got off to a flying start Monday in the Bob Owens Slow-Pitch Softball League playoffs with a 23-6 thrashing of Quality Auto Pistons at the D.C. Canegata Ballpark.
The Stealers scored in every inning en route to amassing 20 runs on 23 hits with two errors, while Quality Auto had six runs on nine hits with three errors. Samuel Ramos picked up the win on the hill for the Stealers, while Lenny Ferrante got the loss.
The Stealers were led at the plate by Enrique Soto, who went 5 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs. Raymond Cintron went 4 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs, and Michael Schjang went 5 for 5 with two RBIs. For Quality, Chris Sauman went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Jason Helina went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
Claudio Enterprises 20, Cross Tech 13
In game two, Claudio Enterprise outlasted a stubborn Cross Tech squad 20-14. It was Claudio with 20 runs on 18 hits and two errors, while Cross Tech finished with 13 runs on 14 hits and two errors. The winning pitcher was Julio Carmona, while Angel Soto picked up the loss for Cross Tech. Claudio was led at the plate by Miguel Rodriguez, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Luis Alexander, 2 for 4 with a home run and seven RBIs. For Cross Tech, Jack Barnard went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs and Joey Jones went 3 for 4 with two RBIs.
Softball Inc. 24, Anchor Dive 9
In game three Monday night, Softball Inc. — arguably the hottest team entering the playoffs — blasted Anchor Dive 24-9 to continue their stellar play. Softball Inc. scored 24 runs on 19 hits with three errors, while Anchor Dive had nine runs on 12 hits and committed three errors. The winning pitcher was Cody St. Pierre, while Edwin Sankitts got the loss for Anchor Dive. Top hitters for Softball Inc. were Tim Gillipsie, 4 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs; St. Pierre, 4 for 5 with a home run and five RBIs; and Ariel Gil, 4 for 5 with two home runs and four RBIs. For Anchor Dive, Randy Rawlins went 2 for 4 with two home runs and three RBIs and Sankitts went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
