Alert: Road Collapsed in Savan

Oct. 14, 2008 – A road has collapsed in the Savan area, according to Public Works Commissioner Darrel Smalls, who warned motorists and residents of the area that as of 7:30 p.m. the road was closed to though traffic.
“If you are traveling up Fire Burn Hill you cannot make the left turn into the Savan area,” Smalls said. And there is no way to go down Fire Burn as it is the one-way road going down that has collapsed.
He therefore asked motorists not to try approach from Pilgrim Terrace through Agnes Fancy either, because, "you won’t be able to go down Fireburn," he said. Public Works has erected barriers on either side of the road for the safety of motorists.
Police Commissioner James H. McCall urged all residents and visitors to stay off the roads because of the unsafe conditions including road flooding and mud slides that are being experienced throughout the Virgin Islands.
